National Express from West to East

Breakfast

Thursday saw me waking up in the Premier Inn, Haymarket, Bristol at 5am. I got up and made cups of tea for Drew and I before heading down for our Premier Inn Breakfast at 6.30am (when it opened).

Drew had I have long treated Premier Inn breakfasts as a naughty pleasure, as they allow us multiple trips to the breakfast bar.

We both had some, healthy, fruit and some, perhaps not so healthy fried meat by way of sausage, bacon, black pudding and eggs.

I've mentioned on previous posts on holiday that I edit the Parish newsletter for the Catholic Parish of St. Teilo's with Our Lady of Lourdes. While I'd completed most of the items before leaving home I expected to use Lisbon wifi to complete the updated items today or tomorrow, but given the doubt about our onward travel, there is still snow around, I decided to complete it today.

After two more cups of tea, we left the room at 9.20am, went down the 13 floors in the lift and walked the 150 yards walk to bus station.

Route

The route was a simple on, up the M4 from Bristol to Heathrow, then change at Heathrow Coach Station for the journey to Stanstead.

The coach was 30 minutes late departing, but we arrived at Heathrow with 5 minutes spare to transfer to the Stansted bus, this is tighter than my preferred change times, but the driver had rung ahead to make sure the coach didn't leave Heathrow without us.

It was a nice fast ride around the M25 to Stansted and then a few minutes to catch the hotel shuttle which got us to the London Stansted Premier Inn at 3pm. Perfect timing as 3pm is when check in begins.

Premier Inn

The layout of the room was, no surprise, very similar to that we stayed in last night. Functional, yet comfy.

Jack felt very comfortable.

We read our novels and checked on the weather forecasts and hoped the incoming snow that is disrupting large parts of the country will let us get away tomorrow.

Dinner

We looked at the possibility of eating somewhere off site, but given the ongoing wet/snowy weather, we decided to eat at the Premier Inn.

It was very simple, Drew began with Fish Goujons

While I opted for Salt and Black Pepper Calamari.

Drew then had a Double Burger with Bacon

While I had a Mixed Grill, not the biggest I've had, but nice to fill a little gap.

By 9.30pm we were up in the room and heading to sleep, ready for tomorrow's excitements, whatever they may be!
